Time to go local!
This is a time of year with lots of municipal elections around the country. #PostcardsToVoters has enjoyed supporting strong Democratic candidates up and down the ballot for two years now. The municipal elections for which we’ve written to boost turnout include school board, sheriff, county clerk, city council, village trustee, boards of selectmen, district attorney, and county boards.
Volunteers have many choices when it comes to deciding how they will spend their limited time and resources. It might be helpful to explore why local races around the country should matter to activists elsewhere.
Following are casual conversations with former candidates, elected officials, campaign consultants and staff, and community organizers and activists. We hope to learn from them what difference they see at the local level when a progressive wins and serves.
